First of all I stand behind you one hundred percent!! I could not have said it better myself. I pray she accepts your challenge!
My son is in a charter school but we follow the CPS days. So if they don't close, our school doesn't close. My sons bus stop was near [hidden] and there are NO sidewalks down there. It is an accident waiting to happen!
This weather is not fit for the children!!! I honestly don't think Gene Harris cares because she is warm and doesn't have to walk in this. On Friday I was at my son's school and took several calls from parents who were so angry that there was school and their kids had waited for the bus for over an hour. Grove City made the news when their kids had to wait one hour, not sure why Columbus didn't. My son's bus was 46 minutes late, that didn't make the news either. I am blessed to be a stay at home Mom and I can make sure my son is warm, and picked up by the bus but there are parent who don't have the luxury or they just don't care. I have seen several kids at my child's school who come with just a jacket, no gloves, hats, or scarf and then they have to walk. I personally took a child home because he had to walk home because he is in the 2 mile range on back streets and no side walks. He could have been hit or killed on them side roads. I don't know what the right answers are, or if there even is a right answer. All I know is if she had to do it daily she might think a little bit more about what our kids go through!!
I send the highest regard to you! Thank you for standing up for what most all of us parents are thinking. Please let me know if she accepts your challenge!
