To: [hidden] I appreciate your taking the time to write, as well as the difference in our opinions... however, this isn't about me or my own personal situation. The big deal is that they do not, in any way, consider all the kids who do not have that option for lack of parental care, students who's parents must leave for work earlier than their student has to leave, or for whatever reason. Shouldn't they be looking out for ALL the students? If they are going to call school into session in such difficult walking conditions, then my opinion is that they need to find a safe way to get ALL the students there. For them to say it's safe because the buses can get to the students who ride, is simply untrue. If they can't find a way to be sure all students have a safe way to get to school, then they should call it off and make it up later, period. You're right, the kids do need to be educated, and making up days would do that. CPS and other districts are simply reluctant to do that for whatever the reason, but the TIME to do so is available to them. I'd like to see them use it, as opposed to disregarding completely the safety of students who have to walk long distances, and many of them do. Hope you have a great day! Karen www.CPScomplaints.com
