at approx. 7:35 this morning on the way to take my daughter to school (because there's no where we can park on the street over by the bus stop because of piled up snow), suddenly the car in front of me quickly swerved into the next lane - and suddenly RIGHT in front of my car, was a child (looking to be maybe 13 yrs old?). My daughter yelled, "MOM, watch out!!" and i swerved into the other lane JUST in time to avoid him. how tragically ironic would it have been, me waging this battle, had i actually HIT a child due to them having to walk in streets because sidewalks are too hard to maneuver??? Yesterday on the way back from taking her to school, i also had to change lanes to avoid a child walking on Karl Rd...and when i got back into the lane, there was a child looking to be about 6-7 years old that was jumping up on the ice bolders right beside the road...there were cars in the lane next to me so i couldn't get over, so needless to say, i slowed to a crawl in order to avoid him if he should happen to slide off into the street in his (expected) youthful playfulness. When is this dangerous practice of making the kids maneauver through a city that is a DANGEROUS WRECK just to get to school going to end??? Seems to me that switching summer & winter breaks as far as making winter break be the long one would avoid most of the worst of this winter danger for them! karen www.cpscomplaints.com
