way to go, i am so glad someone else is standing up to her. i worte to the CPS last week and i recived a email baack telling me i was more then able to keep my kids home if i wanted to... i have wrote wbns and nbc 4 and never heard anything back from them, i have made calls and still nothing i am also going to forward you a copy of the email i sent with the reply i recived. i do not drive so my kids must walk because my husband has to work or we cant live. my son got sick from walking out in the cold to school and missed his 1st day of school in 2 years , he was really up set about this but it had to be done. i check the CPS web site every morning to see if my sons bus is on time and they even said the buses was running late due to bad roads . i am also upset that the new channels have never once said anything about our kids waiting for the bus for 45 min but when the other school made the kids wait it was all over the news does this seem fair...i really feel Gene Harris needs replaced , it is not just this issue i have with her, it is also the closeing of schools and the firing of teachers saying it will save us money but she received a nice raise 3 years ago. i have spent 2 years coplaining about CPS and Gene Harris and no one ever gets back to me or i have to listen to thm tell me they are doing what is best for schools .... i dont care about that i care about the kids mine and all CPS kids and it is time others did to so thanks for what you are doing

Thank you for your inquiry. Winter weather presents many challenges for Ohio's school districts. Many factors are considered when determining whether it is necessary to close schools due to inclement weather. Variables such as road conditions, ambient and wind chill temperatures, and the forecasted temperatures throughout the day are considered when making the decision to remain open or close our schools. Unfortunately, it's rarely an easy call, and it's a decision elicits many different points of view.
Please keep in mind, while we are making the decision we believe is best for the school district as a whole, parents do have the right to keep their child home for the day if they believe conditions warrant that decision. So that we know your child is safe, we ask that you notify the school if you intend to keep your child home for the day, and to send a note with the child when they return to school.
